IT husbands BRILLANT idea.

So, my most genius IT Manager husband has come up with a BRILLANT idea for my blog. At least so he says and let's be honest, when was the last time an IT guy has come up with anything remotely brilliant. But, because I love him dearly I am going to give this idea a shot.

What is this most awesomesauce idea you ask? Well, be prepared to have your mind blown. Da da daaaaaaaa....

Write short stories on this here blog type thingy. But WAIT! Not just any old short stories, because that is just way to over done. These stories will be like a TV series but in book format. In his words exactly, "So kinda like Friends  but on a blog. That should work, right...right?"

Ummm, why not?

So hopefully in the next few months (not this one though, NaNo and all that jazz) there will be short stories in TV series like format going up. What ever the hell that means. Seeing as how I don't write scripts this may possibly be a horrible crash and burn.  I really hope not though. That would really suck.

Here are the rules that I have put into place, just to keep me from posting 5000 word long posts.

  1. The posts will be no shorter than 500 words and no longer than 1000 words.
  2. The stories will be in the fiction genre.
Short and sweet. Not like me, if you were wondering.

Let us hope this is not another BRILLANT idea from an IT dude.

A Day On The Planet

I am only 100 words away from finishing my story for this project http://adayontheplanet.com/en/yourday . It is really great practice, and a pretty awesome project. I haven't written a story, short or long, since I was forced to in high school. It's really cool to write because I want to, not because I have to. Anyhow, check out this website, and contribute to the project.
From the A Day On The Planet website:

One Day - 7 Billion People – One Book

We are going to publish a book that tells about people around whole world. With stories that tell about their experiences on one particular day.

Written by people who experienced these stories themselves.

The day is 09.09.2009. The author is you.

There is always something happening on our planet. Our planet is constantly in motion and so are we. Every second of every day we live through drama, love, surprise, grief and joy.

Somewhere on the planet the sun is rising, somewhere else it is setting. People are dancing, arguing, laughing and crying. Everywhere around the world, every day people experience new things and also moving emotions – and you are one of these people.

But although the Internet and globalisation are making our planet seem smaller and smaller, we all live in worlds of our own. Or are you familiar with the hopes and dreams of people who live thousands of kilometres away from you?

On 9 September 2009 (09.09.09) we are collecting personal stories from people from all over the world.

You, too, can write down a personal experience that made this day special for you. And at the same time, a host of others in other countries will be writing about what they experience. Day-to-day experiences can be very surprising and impressive for people on the other side of the planet!

So become a part of the unique project and help us to bring people from all over the world closer together – with your story, which will be translated into many different languages and published all over the world.

A large portion of the book proceeds will benefit a charitable organisation.

Break Through!

I finally figured out who the villain is going to be in the book. It will be the protag's father's wife. Well, her ghost at least. The poor lady died, expecting to be able to go to the Otherworld and spend the rest of eternity with her love, only to find out that he had a DAUGHTER? She goes into a rage, and well, she becomes the villan. I don't want to give away much else. Knowing me, it will change tomorrow. I will have to say that I am loving my dreams right now. They are helping a great deal with this project!

PublishAmerica

If you or anyone you know is considering going through these guys to get a book published, DON'T! They are nothing more than a POD, or Print on Demand publisher. You and your family will be the only ones buying your books. You will also be out tons of money. As good ol' Uncle Jim says, Yog's Law-Money flows toward the author.
If you don't want to believe me, check out this forum http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10211, and see for yourself the damage this place has done to many, many aspiring authors.
PublishAmerica is also on Twitter, trying to lure more bright-eyed newbies. Please spread the word to every author you may know. No one wants to see someones' dream crushed by these guys.

New Morning

Not to much in the way of inspiration this morning, so on to reading some more forums. My muse is being a tricky lady today. Anyhow, the good news is that from my last inspiration is that I have an idea for two more books follwing up the one I am working on now. I will be busy for awhile now. Yay!
I know there isn't much in the way of content so far, but I did say I was giving this a try. So don't say I didn't warn you. :) I promise it will get better. I am working on something in the way of content to put up soon, so just wait. :)

My Muse Struck!

So there I was, how cliche is that? Anyhow, I was reading some sage advice on Absolutewrite.com, minding my own business, when the muse popped up, grinned that seductive grin she has, and smacked the hell out of me.
I just wrote up an outline, beginning, middle, and end. I have even got some more info on my charcters, they and the plot just need a bit more fleshing out.
This is going very well indeed. Off to read some more sage advice. Possibly my muse is hiding there again.
Here's hoping!

Starting Over

I am totally starting over on this blog. It didn't start out well now did it? O well, you live and learn. I am going to stop doing book reviews, like I ever really started right? :) Anyhow. I am starting to actaully write my own book, and this blog will be my random musings of that. Still not a WHOLE lot to follow, but hey, whhhhy not?
At the moment, I am still in the research stage of my book. It's alot of fun, more than I thought it would be. I haven't written anything of any seriousness since high school, so I hope I will get a learning curve by the writing community :)
I am learning ALOT from the great people of http://absolutewrite.com . They are amazing.
I should probably actually be oh, I dunno writting. Bye for now.
